I wanted to start a space for ongoing discussion regarding the choice to join the Bivio website. http://www.bivio.com/index.html The Cost is $99/year for the tax and accounting functionality. This will allow us to prepare share reports which track member contributions, trades, interest, and taxes. The service also provides a bulleting board space and e-mail service for our club. It also has online document storage.
All of these options are things that we feel we may be able to do ourselves or can get for free. While not paying for the service will make the set up more difficult we could avoid the yearly fee. However club accounting could get difficult and it might be nice to have an established for us. Therefore we plan on signing up for the 3 month free membership to weigh the costs and benefits. During our November meeting we discussed beginning the free trial in December so that we could take advantage of the tax preparation. However after the meeting Chad and I decided that since we haven't incurred any liability from the operation of our Club preparing the taxes consists of a one page filing for the club itself and no additional work for members. So it is our recomendation to delay our free trial until January so that we could have 3 months of tracking actual stock transactions. Please let us know if you agree or disagree.
